My name is Joana Valadão. I'm a Communication Designer from Azores, currently living in Porto ****and looking forward to start new experiences as a UX/UI Designer. I've always been curious about UX/UI Design and felt that this was the right time to seek training and start a new chapter in my career. Five years ago I decided that I wanted to try freelancing as part of my journey as a communication designer. Those 5 years were filled with great experiences in areas such as editorial design, logo design, branding, packaging, illustration and others.
Now I am eager to take the next step. Human centered design felt like the right choice to upgrade my career, and I'm enjoying every step of it. I'm a constant learner, and enjoy exploring and self teaching things i'm curious about. Sometimes, these thighs may have little to do with design. Amongst some of my recent projects, I have learned to work with polymerized clay and made my own jewelry, I have also embroidered some of my own illustrations into clothes. Screen printing is another area that I love and together with the illustrator Ana Seixas, we give color to people’s projects at Lola Silkscreen, a screen printing workshop in Porto where everything is produced by hand and with and eco-friendly focus.
Music is also very dear to me. I have always enjoyed playing the guitar and, to add to this passion and combine it with my design background, I completed a Masters in Image Design that culminated in a research project about the graphic style of Portuguese psychedelic rock album covers from the 60's and 70's.
